DIWALI: The True Meaning of LIGHT! By Rev. Lalrohlua Pachuau

Diwali is here!
Very warm wishes to all my one-billion-Indian-fellow friends a very happy Diwali. May the good LORD brightens your hearts and minds with the good things in life, and may He open up the door so that all of us may come to the saving knowledge of God.

Diwali, as have been told, is a festival of light! What light? This brings back the story of the famous rescue of Sita by Lord Rama with the help of multitudes of monkeys in the Hindu religious belief. Upon return from the fierce battle, everybody lit oil lamps to guide them on their way. Such a rescue was considered as victory over evil. In short, thus started Diwali - festival of light.

I just want to tell you my new version of Diwali today. John the evangelist told us a very beautiful truth here:

There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him (Jn 1:9-10).

And Jesus himself said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." (Jn 8:12).

Oh! I wish that one day you may come to know Jesus personally. Knowing him is knowing the truth and is the beginning of life eternal!
